Remembering Dave

One of the things I'll always remember about my friendship with Dave and his wife, Brenda, is that whenever I asked Brenda to help with Spill The Musical or one of my music projects, I knew she and Dave would decide together. And somehow, their answer always seemed to be yes.

Much of my friendship with Dave came from the projects and dreams he and Brenda helped bring to life, and that's how I came to know the humility and kindness of his heart.

Dave was the founder and owner of Premier Design Build in Franklin, TN. But what impressed me most wasn't what he built professionally—it was the life he built through his faith. After Dave passed away, I learned even more about his love for Jesus. He didn't simply believe in Christ. He quietly lived like Him, selflessly serving others with a heart that never expected anything in return.

Dave left us so suddenly, and that makes it even harder that he isn't here to watch the dream God gave me continue to grow. I wish he could see how far we have come, because Spill The Musical wouldn't be what it is today without Dave and Brenda saying yes when I needed them most. Their yeses changed everything.

David Kimmerle

Remembering David

David always seemed to know exactly when I needed to be encouraged. On the days I needed it most, he would text me out of nowhere to remind me to never stop believing in the dreams and goals God had placed in my heart. Millions knew David as a renowned fitness model, but his greatest strength wasn't his physique—it was his heart. After overcoming tremendous hardships in his own life, David inspired countless hearts by proving that their past didn't have to define their future. He genuinely cared about people.

David and I co-wrote a song called Hard Time Prayer that he couldn't wait to share with his best friend Kent's family. Kent's tragic death inspired David to write the poem that eventually became our song. Years later, just as I excitedly picked up the phone to call David with the great news that our song had finally been recorded and turned into a music video, I found out—on Instagram, of all places—that he had passed away the year before.

Yet, in the sadness, I'm grateful David's legacy will continue doing what he always did—pouring out hope and encouragement to those who desperately need it . . . through Hard Time Prayer and its place in Spill The Musical.

Tina Weir

Remembering Tina

One of the things I remember most about Tina is something that may have seemed small to anyone else, but meant the world to me. Long before Spill The Musical had become what it is today, Tina followed us on Instagram almost immediately and in doing so, encouraged us from the very beginning.

Though I never got the chance to know Tina as well as many others did, I knew she was extremely special. Tina was the founder of HEAL Ministries, a ministry in Jinja, Uganda, devoted to empowering women and children through Christ-centered programs focused on sustainability and keeping families together. Tina saw people who were hurting, and she did not simply feel compassion for them—she acted on it.

It makes me sad that Tina isn't here to watch the dream God gave me continue to grow. I wish she could see how far we have come, because a huge part of that we is Tina's son, Tripp. Tripp is my awesome producer in Nashville and one of our amazing songwriters for Spill The Musical. Tripp is also one of my greatest friends. And I am beyond grateful to Tina for all of it.
